Ears
I sat down to write a post, but then Cab--who went out an hour ago and refused to potty, even choosing to sit in the snow from sheer boredom--decided he needed to potty. Urgently. And it was snowing again.
He's pretty lucky he has those damn ears.
Questions! Let's do questions!
What kind of soap do you use? Do you have a fear of answering your house phone line, if you have one? What are you doing this weekend?
We use Pure and Natural, because a) it is really gentle, and b) it is really cheap. We used to be Irish Spring people, but it was too harsh and drying for my delicate lily white skin, so we made the switch. Lately I've been sometimes using Burt's Bees Citrus Spice Exfoliating Shower Soap--I had several samples, from gift packs. I was saving them. For what, I'm not sure. A special occasion? A need for major exfoliation? A soap shortage?
At any rate, I really like it. It's abrasive and smells clean and good. I like how lotion feels after using it. MMMMM.
Also, I hate our house line. Any time it rings, it is almost guaranteed to be a sales person or a poll. EVERY TIME. We didn't have a house line in Wyoming, and it was beautiful. One more call for a magazine subscription, and I am cancelling it.
WE ARE ON THE NO CALL LIST.
This weekend I have to work. And vacuum. And paint.
Go!

I use all sorts of different things, but I usually come back to a Dove bar of soap, because it doesn't dry my skin out.
We have a land line, and I also hate it, but then again I kind of hate all phones. I don't know where my phone phobia came from, but I have it. Unless it's someone related to me calling, then I'm all over it.
This weekend we are going to see My Fair Lady. This is my favorite musical, so I am quite excited to see the Broadway production. We will also attempt to clean the house as we have a house guest next weekend. Cleaning sucks.
Love Cab's ears!!!
Do you ever read Indie Bloggers? Because there is Indie Ink coming soon, which is Indie Bloggers for artists, and when I saw the description I thought of you, because you are a brilliant artist. The description is here.
Anyway, the questions! We use organic Lavera soap for body wash and Method Naked for hand soap. We don't have a house phone line, but if we did, I wouldn't be afraid to answer it. This weekend we're going to a movie with my sister, to dinner with Torsten's boss, and to sleep. For a long time.
I use some Philosophy 3-in-1 body wash/bubble bath/shampoo(??) types dealies. Still BANANA SMOOTHIE flavor since I can't ever use up a seasonal scent in less than ONE FULL YEAR.
No land line, thank god. I cannot handle answering calls that aren't for me, or sales calls. NO, NO, NO. I don't even answer MY OWN phone about half the time.
It's BR's birthday tomorrow so...listening to bitching about how "old" he is (he's 34)? Trying to find something he will accept as a gift(hint:nothing)?
I use Dove Sensitive Skin b/c I have extremely picky skin these days that doesn't like anything remotely resembling having smells or colors or exfoliation or extra moisture or anything. We had a land line but I cancelled it as of today b/c the only reason we had it was for the A.TT
internet and now we have cable internet. This weekend I'm cleaning our apartment to get ready for houseguests next weekend for Mardi Gras!
Cab is SO cute!
We use Irish Spring, but I kind of want to get a girly soap. I sense Jason will be resistant because he likes buying soap in the jumbo 30-packs.
We don't have a land line, just cell phones, but I HATE answering the phone. Not at work, just when it's personal, because it's either a) solicitors, b) bad news or c) people who want to have a 90-minute conversation. I hate talking on the phone for longer that 2 minutes, seriously. I don't know why.
This weekend, we're going to TwinsFest (yay! baseball!) and then on Saturday, Jason's uncle's funeral, following shortly thereafter by a festive birthday party for a 4-year-old. Gonna run the gamut of emotions on that day. Sunday = NOTHING.
Oh, Cab! I soooo wish I would have met you last weekend.
But! In March I will scratch those ears. I will!
Ok - Answers:
Soap: Dove. My best friend DPR uses it and the smell of it reminds me of him and how safe he always makes me feel. God, I miss him.
We have a land line so that we can get DSL out here on the moon. I DREAD that ring more than anything. It is either a political pollster or MG calling to say he will be staying with us for a few days. Oh, the DREAD.
Oh, yeah. This weekend.
Maybe go to the Cowgirls game on the road Saturday night, and then holiday party for OUR FORMER WORKPLACE.
Again - DREAD.
I use Dove, or Ivory... I'm not too picky. David uses Irish spring, which I hate- makes me dry and itchy...
We have a home line, and I refuse to give it up. I rarely hear my cell phone if I am at home (and I'm at home a lot), so I receive most of my calls on our land line. My cell phone I have for a)when I have a doula client due or b) when I need to make a call out. I receive very few incoming calls on my cell. I think this is the norm for most of the moms I hang out with...
This weekend we are having a princess/super-hero party for the twins. They asked that their friends come dressed as their favorite princeess or super-hero. They are very excited.
We use Dove because it's the only thing our crazily sensitive skinned family can all handle.
I refuse to touch our land line. Anyone who needs me has my cell. The house phone is typically for FIL and that's the only reason we keep it around.
I have NO PLANS this weekend. Except for, like, folding 19 baskets of laundry. I hope to get a lot of sleep. Hub offered to send me to a hotel and I accepted only to find out that he was joking. Jerk.
Have a great weekend, even though you have to work!
Dove soap. Been using it since I was a KID. It's loverly. I do have tons of B&Bworks stuff I get for bdays or holidays I'll use every once in a while. But I always go back to Dove. (And the pediatrician actually asked us to have our 8-yr old start to use it because the kiddie liquid soaps I've been buying are drying out her skin!)
Land line. I have it because up until last Sept I worked for the phone company and had a discount. And I figured it was good for emergencies when our cells might not work (we don't get good service in our neighborhood). I don't answer the phone unless it's my family/friends. I HATE those freakin' poll calls! My husband doesn't answer the land line AT ALL. Not even if he's standing right next to it and sees on the caller ID that it's someone for HIM. He's definitely phone-phobic.
My daughter and I have a Girl Scout function tonight (this will be a fun one NOT organized by me) and Saturday we're having company over for like the FIRST time since we bought the house a year and a half ago. We are pathetic losers. Sunday, no plans. Perhaps a run to the mall to exchange pants AGAIN in the search for that perfect pair I could wear sitting around the house AND out in public and not feel frumpy. I keep striking out.
Cab is a doll. Your blog always makes me think maybe getting shots so that I don't break out anytime I pet a dog or get licked by one won't be so horrible...and then go get a dog. We are pet-free right now, and I love it on many levels, but I also miss the companionship. Oh well. That's what the kids are for, right?
1. Irish Spring, or the store brand knockoff. They dry me out, but so does, you know, hot water. I live in a dry climate and my skin is genetically engineered for the British Isles.
2. My land line is where all the luminaries of the world will find me, once they start calling, so I hold out hope every time. I think the last time it rang it was Michelle Obama, though (which she will probably get DESPITE that call).
3. Weekend: I think there will be a four-man fly-tying party at my house. Two of the "men" are under 6, though, so I'm hoping that means some quality conversation time with the other non-fly-fishing person.
I use dove body wash. I love the way it smells.
I do not have a landline and probably won't get one anytime soon.
This weekend I have to work. Boo.
Wow - I'm suddenly filled with Soap Anxiety because here's the thing: (fixing Dermatologist hat on head, clearing throat) I have extraordinarily dry skin. My dermatologist has SWORN me off soap. I don't keep it in the shower or bathtub or for any bodily cleansing activity (sounds so weird) other than HANDS. And for that we use some purply liquid soft soap that smells good. For the bodily cleansing stuff we use various incarnations of shower gel. Because I can use that. Just not SOAP. When Chip & I got married and he stepped into my shower/bath situation, he was all WHERE'S THE SOAP? And I gave him my lecture about the drying out of skin. And then he refused to **use** my oh so fruity shower gels. And I think the dude uses shampoo when I'm not watching. Because I am a Mean Wife and won't buy him a bar of soap to use in the shower.
The End.
Oh! Yes, have land line. HATE.
This weekend we're going to a 5 hour seminar thingy about caring for a new baby. And then we're going grocery shopping. We live a thrilling life.
1) Cab's ears make my heart melt every time I see them. I want to rub them and give him ear lovies.
2) Aveeno body wash, unscented. Used to use Lever 2000, but my skin is just way too dry.
3) We never answer the landline. Just let the machine get it. Once a week or so I clean off the messages. We are on the Do Not Call list too. Our landline is for DSL and telemarketers. Anyone who knows us calls on the cell phones.
4)This weekend I am going to finish polishing the woodwork (a once a year job) and do the bathroom woodwork over again (because of the heat/humidity). Then regular housework (ugh). Then results of SC primary at night. I have no fun factored into my weekend, but that's me. A no-nonsense, no fun kind of gal.
1) I am not loyal to any one soap. I like a "beauty bar" (Oil of Olay, Caress, Dove) for my face, and I use body wash (usually the Target brand of an Oil of Olay, Caress, or Dove product) for the rest. I hoard things, too! I'll get a huge heap of something awesome on clearance, and then I save it until I don't like it anymore! Then I use it!
2) I hate the sound of a ringing phone. Even if I'm in a store.
3) This weekend I'm going to put up a curtain rod in my son's room. It has only been sitting there for...two years.
Well, I try to use eco-friendly everything as much as possible these days, so typically all my cleaning products are made by ECOver. The one thing I splurge on is my Jean-Paul Gaulthier shower gel and eau de toilette. I've had more comments from people saying that I smell good since I've worn the "Le Male" fragrance than at any other time in my life.
And yes, I fear the landline. I've joined at least two services that claim that they reduce nuisance calls from telemarketers, but I still get the odd calls. Had one just this morning with a recorded message that started "Congratulations", but I hung up.
Soap: Used to get ours from a local store in our old home town. Then we discovered that Whole Foods makes awesome glycerine soaps for cheap, so now we use those.
Phone: don't have a land line right now, but we were informed we HAD to have one in our new house b/c of the security system. We hate the thought, but hate the idea of getting robbed even more so...sigh. Land line.
Weekend: last night was dinner out with The Man and also the Daughter because we can't afford sitters that often. Tonight: disco ice skating for a friend's b-day party. She is requesting hot pants, but I don't think I can comply with that.
I use Mary Kay something-or-other bar soap on my face and shower gel in the shower. If I'm out of a fruity girly one (that I received as a gift, natch) I buy Dial or Dove or some other boring brand.
I am usually afraid that my MIL is calling on the land line, or the Fraternal Order of Police to whom my husband gave 25 dollars ONE TIME, 10 years ago.
This weekend I was hoping to do a lot of little errands. It's Saturday night and so far I accomplished ONE errand, and several naps.
We use whatever costco sends us a coupon for. Currently it's some sort of colorful olay thing (with RIBBONS OF SOFTNESS) that is very girly and Hubs thinks it's amazing. What a girl.
Our house line is a Skype line, so the panic happens when the headset is not hooked in and we only have a few more rings to get it hooked Upppp!
I have no idea about this weekend. Hopefully something significant so that coming back to work isn't so horrible. Also, dinner with my father. Ugh
