Suck

This week has really sort of been the Suckiest of All Things Suck, and I'm not going to go into it. Just send my mom good vibes today, and me good work vibes today so that I can handle some worky things Gracefully and Efficiently. Especially the part about my mom. I wish I could be there for her today.

How about we think about this?

And how about we answer some questions, for it is Friday! And although I have to work tomorrow, it is still Friday!

What is your favorite way to eat pancakes? (Mmmmm, pancakes.) Also, do you wear socks to bed? How many remote controls do you have? And finally, if there were no limits, what do you wish you could do this afternoon (a repeat, but a good one)?

My favorite way to eat pancakes is with strawberry syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream. So they are not so much like pancakes, but more like "dessert." I also love pancakes wrapped around sausages and drenched in a ridiculous amount of maple syrup, but the strawberry way is my favorite of all time. I think we have four or five or six remotes. I really don't know what they all are for, and usually if I am home alone I don't even turn the tv on, because: I haven't really bothered to figure out the elaborate remote system.

I am lazy.

I can not wear socks to bed--if I start with them, they will be kicked off angrily within an hour.

And, if I could do anything/be anywhere this afternoon, I would be with my mom.

Your turn,
black sheeped

TOTALLY DITTO on the pancakes. I will also accept blueberries in place of the strawberries though.

No socks, negatory, HELL NO even

Remotes: At least 10 and I am so serious

This afternoon: be somewhere where it's snowing

Best wishes for your mom.

I'm sending good vibes to you and your mom and your whole family. I hope everything works out okay.

Now, for the questions: I usually don't like pancakes, with the exception of buttermilk ones from a specific recipe I know, and I like to eat them in a pile of two with maple syrup. I would never wear socks to bed, ever. We have three remote controls. And this no limits question is really getting to me, because what does that mean? Seriously no limits? If there were none at all then I would become fluent in every language in the world. If you mean like no financial limits instead of just no limits on what is actually possible, I would travel to somewhere very cool with Torsten.

I really hope your mom is doing OK.

Pancakes? Loaded with butter and maple syrup. And sometimes topped with sugar.

I do sometimes wear socks to bed if I'm really cold, but I also kick them off sometime during the night. I also can't stand wearing pajamas.

Remote controls: two downstairs and three upstairs. I only know how to change the channel and adjust the volume, but not how to program anything.

This afternoon: starting my vacation early by napping on the couch with the kitties.

I like strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, or rasberries and a little powdered sugar, maybe some syrup.

Socks only if feet are extremely cold. I prefer to be all covered up with a sheet, except my feet hanging out at the end.

At least four or five remotes for the tv, surround sound, dvd, and cable.

This afternoon I am already doing something great ~ meeting up with a friend I haven't seen since highschool to see her and meet her babies.

:o)

Pancakes---chocolate chips, extra butter, and maple syrup, although, any pancake is a good pancake.

Socks--like you, if I go to bed with them on, I pull them off in my sleep. I find it impossible to sleep with hot feet.

And to be honest, if I could be anywhere else this afternoon, it would be home sleeping curled up in my comforter. It is a gloomy, dark, rainy day today. But also, I can not get enough sleep right now.

I hope your mom is ok....

I eat pancakes with butter and syrup, preferably some sort of real fruit concoction. I think we have about 6 or so remotes. And if I could do anything, I think I would fly to Paris for the weekend with my husband and spend the days eating and drinking and seeing the sights and the nights would be dancing and staying in the most luxurious hotels.

Pancakes with butter and syrup.

Socks when it's really cold, but usually not.

I think about 7 remotes.

I'd like to be able to go to a movie that's not aimed at children.

Hope all works out for your mom and you.

socks to bed if I'm really really cold

remotes - 3, for we are low-tech

And I'll be thinking of you and your mom.

Cinnamon pancakes with a lot of maple syrup.

Absolutely no socks in bed ever never.

I think I would like to be on a beach with a book, a drink and my husband.

Sending out good thoughts for your mom.

I like whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes--with just a smear of butter and touch a touch of maple syrup. I also love them wrapped around sausages!

I TRY to wear socks to bed. Because I have HORRIBLY cracked heels (Oh! The look and tone of voice from the last girl who gave me a pedicure!), and I'd like to do the trick of smearing lotion on the heels and sleeping the cracks away. Alas! I cannot handle the heat and the socks end up on the floor in the middle of the night. Cracked heels be damned!

Remotes: I just counted NINE of them. Even the kids don't understand the complicated remote control system we have set up here.

This afternoon: I'd like to be in Fort Wayne, Indiana holding my bff's baby--who was born this morning.

Thinking "happy thoughts" for you and your mom.

Hope your Mom is okay and you, too. (((Hugs)))

I am strictly a butter and maple syrup kind of girl, although I like LITE syrup and definitely the "fake" kind, not real Vermont maple or anything like that.

No socks to bed. Socks SUCK in bed.

Remotes: I think we have four downstairs and three upstairs. Ridiculous.

This afternoon: I would like to be at home, where I could work on polishing up my resume and sending it to a few new contacts. OR I would like to be at my Mom's house, drinking a Dr. Pepper and doing a crossword with her.

Dr. Hilbert: Hell, Harold, you could just eat nothing but pancakes if you wanted.

Harold: What is wrong with you? Hey, I don't want to eat nothing but pancakes. I want to live! I mean, who in their right mind in a choice between pancakes and living chooses pancakes?

Dr. Hilbert: Harold, if you pause to think, you'd realize that that answer is inextricably contigent upon the type of life being led... and, of course, the quality of the pancakes.

-Stranger Than Fiction

With that being said - best wishes for your family and your mom.

I choose PUMPKIN pancakes with maple syrup / or, in second place is the plain buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup. Yum.

No on the socks in bed.

Remotes? That I can think of right now, probably around 7.

This afternoon: anywhere but here.

1) I am startled every time I see that straight-haired picture of you. I think of you SO STRONGLY as curly-haired, it is as if it CANNOT BE STRAIGHTENED.

2) I am sorry about all the suck, and am sending non-suck (I was NOT going to say "blow" there) vibes your way and hoping things will be okay.

3) At home, I eat pancakes with maple syrup. But in restaurants, I like them with fruit and confectioner's sugar and whipped cream and stuff like that.

4) I sometimes wear socks to bed, and sometimes don't. I go in long cycles: months of never wearing them, followed by months of always wearing them. Who knows what changeth the tides?

5) We have four remote controls. Two are baby toys now, with batteries removed. Two work. One is actually in use.

6) If I could do ANYTHING? That is too broad; it short-circuits my brain (making out with celebrity cutie? while flying in private jet to Paris? where I'd magically be able to speak French?). But if it's WITHIN REASON, I would like to be left alone in my own house, and I would like an entire ice cream cake in the freezer, and I would like to blog around in peace.

Keeping you and your mom in my thoughts....good, positive thoughts.

Pancakes: Plain old vegan margarine and syrup.

Socks in bed: Only once, when the furnace broke on a Christmas Eve and the temperature in the house was about 40. Otherwise, I start with them and then wake up and they're magically on the floor.

Remotes: I lost count. I just have a little basket next to my chair with the 2 I know how to use (turn on TV, turn on dish). This is the purview of Mr. Pi.

Friday I went to my weekly therapy appointment and then came home wondering about stuff. Funny how that happens every time I see her.

Keep us updated on your mom, supportive hugs to you.
